I finished these blocks a while ago, but I got around to taking the pictures just now. I like the pinwheel. It is such a cute simple design but with so much character!

Finally Finished

I finally finished K's quilt: the pinwheel sampler! I am so very excited! It is a perfect side for her! The backing is flannel, and it is so soft!

Nothing can quite parallel to my love for Moda fabrics. I have been branching out a bit, but I keep coming back. I love nearly every moda collection with very few exceptions.

Quilting Bee: March

Ashley sent us beautiful Joel Dewberry fabric from his aviary and Heirloom collections asking us to make a square in a square block. After we worked out some confusion as to where the gray was supposed to go, I ended up making the flowing two blocks. I love how they turned out!

I love these blocks! So simple and easy to put together quickly!

Little Apples - Basted!

A Couple of days ago, with my husbands help I basted the Little Apples Quilt. Then I realized I never took a picture of a completed top...

I ended up altering the original pattern, by not attaching the outer border, because I realized that if I did, I would not have enough backing material. I think it looks good without the outer border. I am glad I picked red for sashing, because it is definitely contributing to the overall feel of the quilt. Now I kind of wish that I put a thin red border on the inner squares inside the blocks/ That would have been a lot of work though, and I am quite happy how quickly this quilt came together!

I also very much enjoyed working with Aneela Hoey's fabrics. I have A Walk in the Woods line sitting there, waiting for me to get to it, and I must say, I am very much looking forward to it!

I am quilting this in gray, so I hope that works well. I am quite excited to finish this quilt up and send it on its way to its recipient!

Summer Sampler: Blocks 4 & 5

Block 4: Minessota
This one took a super long time to make. The diamond units are paper-pieced, and the hour glass units consist of quarter-square triangles. This was my first experience with quarter square triangles, but I must say, I love this little unit, and will probably make more of them. I made this block with incorrectly printed templates, so I ended up having to trim the hourglass units down.

Block 5: Six-Pointed Star
I liked making this block. I think the tutorial was wrong though. The triangles have to be cut to at least 4" height (not 3.5"). I need to try making it with that bigger size to see what happens. The height of the block ended up being 11.5" (and 12.5" wide), so I am going to have to add strips to top and bottom.

Little Apples Quilt - In progress

I am pretty excited for this quilt. It is featuring Aneela Hoey's Little Apples collection. I am making this pattern. I did increase the size of individual blocks. I ended up cutting the strips to be 3", 5", and 1.5". At this point I have all the blocks made. Here is a sneak peek:

I just love those prints!

I tried to fussy cut the prints to showcase them better.

I really do think that this pattern was a perfect choice for this line. I am able to showcase the prints really well! I am excited for the final product!
