Fabric Love

Look at some of those cute lovely lines coming up from Moda! Ok how do I justify buying more fabric???

This would be great for a baby girl quilt:

I have seen lots of great quilts made with this line. The large prints make them stand out:

I love this color scheme. Purple, pink, yellow, and turquise! Love!

Same designer as the curio line. This color scheme is more baby-quilt friendly:

Quilt blocks!!! Quilt out of quilt blocks out of "Quilt Blocks"! Yes please!

Sweetwater is becoming one of my favorite designers!

This line has been out for a bit. I like it, I just have no idea what to make with it..

Orange! I love all the oranges in here! Not sure about black/orange combo though. Looks a bit too much like Halloween to me.

Would make such a cute summer house quilt. Now I just need a summer house...

Owels! I think I may need to acquire these fabrics! This would make an adorable baby boy quilt!

Same designer as Summer House. Very pretty!

I always seem to love Me & My Sister Designs fabrics. Twirl does not dissapoint, it even has some yellow in it!

And how cute is this line! And the designer is Berenstain Bears!!!

I think this is my new favorite Christmas line! It will be available in June, just in time to make some Christmas quilts for the kiddos!

I love pretty much anything by Kate Spain and this new Christmas line is no exception!

This collection would be worth it just for that print in lower left hand corner!

I think I will need to see how the individual fabrics look before deciding on this one. I do love the yellow/red/grey color combo.

I think there is going to be a BOM club at Fat Quarter Shop featuring this collection:

Kate Spain!!!

A Little Red Ridinghood line! I love all the prints!

I think this collection will be the focus of another BOM at Fatquarter Shop!

Goals for 2012

I want to write these down, so that I can refer back to them and see how many I have accomplished so far:

1. Keep up with the quilting bee (I was good about this in 2011, but got a bit behind right before having a baby)

2. Complete 12 quilt tops including: quilts for A&A  (2), Max's Quilt, Living Room Quilt, and Summer Sampler.

2a. Quilt 8 quilts (some of the ones above need to be long-arm quilted, no way my sewing machine can handle them!)

3. Make some headway in making our bed quilt: put all the blocks together

4. Learn how to make blocks using templates and using paper piecing

5. Take one quilting class

6. Learn free-motion quilting.

Quilting Bee: Block 6

Amber asked us to make a house. The dimensions were up to us, as was the design. I had a lot of fun with this block. It is not like anything else I ever made, and I have to say, I am proud of how it turned out.

Finished in 2011

Project 1: Baby Play Quilt

This is the first quilt I ever completed and I am really proud of it. I made it for Katya to use as a playmat when she plays on the floor. I started making it before we knew she was a girl, so the quilt is gender neutral.

Project 2: Squares Baby Quilt

This was the first quilt for which I used diagonal quilting. It was made using 1 layer cake and it was pretty easy to put together. I really like how it turned out.

Project 3: French Quilt

This was the first quilt for which I made a pieced backing.

Project 4: Synchronized Squares Quilt

Top Completed: Pinwheel Sampler

Quilting Bee Blocks

Stats:
4 Finished Quilts
1 Finished Quilt Top
5 Quilting Bee Blocks (I am a bit behind on this...)

Project 17: Max's Quilt
I am doing a fairly simple alternating fence rail design in blues, yellow, green and brown. I have all the rows made, I just need to put the top together a piece the back. This quilt is huge, so I think I will get it long-arm quilted.

Project 18: Strawberry Fields BOM Club
Fabric: Strawberry Fields by Fig Tree Quilts for Moda Fabrics

I get fabric to make one block each month. Additionally I have the backing fabric and the finishing kit. It will look like a field of flowers in the end: each block is a flower.

Grand Total: 18 projects! I completed ~5 this year... maybe I will get more efficient! I think I will shoot for 12, 1 per month. Totally doable! :)

Synchronized Squares: Done!

I am proud to say that this quilt is finally finished as well. I ended up giving it to my kids on Christmas morning. They very much enjoyed cuddling on the couch with their presents under the quilt (and then dragging it all around the living room backing side up proclaiming that they are a little red riding hood :) ).

Pinwheel Extravaganza

One of the projects I have been working on, that has been finally revieled, is making blocks for a pinwheel quilt for one of our quilting bee members, whose house burnet down right after we made blocks for her. A lot of people donated charm packs to us to do this and we made pibwheels. Here are the ones I made:

I love how they all look together. In fact I think I will also be making a pinwheel quilt.
